Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has beefed up security in Srinagar ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit starting Thursday.
According to the police, a multi-layered security blanket was put in place.
“It is a multi-layered security. As per the security protocols, the high alert security arrangement has been made here,” IGP Kashmir region Vidhi Kumar Birdi told ANI on Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Srinagar police issued orders declaring the city a “temporary red zone” for the operation of drones and quadcopters.
The police stated that any unauthorized drone operations in the red zone may be punished in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Drone Rules, 2021.
PM Modi will arrive in Srinagar on Thursday and around 6:00 PM, he will attend the ‘Youth Empowerment, Transformation J&K’ event at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC) there.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects in JK. He will also launch the Agriculture and Allied Sectors Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP) on Thursday.
On Friday, June 21, Prime Minister Modi will attend the 10th International Yoga Day event at SKICC in Srinagar. He will address a gathering at the event and take part in a CYP Yoga session afterwards.
