A pair of sandals, a flashlight and a T-shirt recovered from the body initially confirmed that it was that of Sunil Gogoi. Sunil Gogoi was killed – the family, the common people, the police are sure of it, because Sunil Gogoi’s life was threatened. Sunil Gogoi was directly involved in handing over the suspended senior engineer of the Public Health Technical Department Jayant Goswami to the anti-corruption wing and was a witness against him. Sunil Gogoi’s wife received several calls saying that someone had conspired to kill him. On the evening of June 1, Sunil Gogoi told his son that someone had conspired to kill him. The police have not been able to confirm Sunil Gogoi’s killer in the last 15 days despite getting so much information.

Police sources said Sunil Gogoi’s body was half burnt and there was no head to identify it clearly, and the recovered objects and sniffer dogs suggested that the body might belong to Sunil Gogoi. On the other hand, witnesses and evidence are needed to punish the murderers, so they have to wait for the criminal report.

The victim’s family lost faith in the police, the government and the administration. Director General of Police GP Singh himself arrived at the scene and promised to arrest the killers soon.
