Bengali-Bihar railway to increase speed, increase comfort – News18 Bangla Achi-News

The Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) has approved the commissioning of the section after completing a precautionary inspection of the newly laid 23.242 km track between Pawakhali and Thakurganj stations in the Araria-Golglia New Line Project.

The entire project is under Katihar Division of North East Frontier Railway. The newly constructed broad gauge line was opened with the main objective of strengthening the existing railway network in the Chicken Neck section and improving the operational efficiency of the entire railway in the section. The newly laid railway line will facilitate the movement of more goods and passenger trains along this route to the North East region.

The length of Araria-Golglia new line project is 110.75 km, of which 23.242 km railway line has been opened from Pawakhali station to Thakurganj station via Kadogaon, Bhogdaba stop. The new railway covers the eastern part of Bihar. This project will help in decompression of the section and smooth movement of trains on the Pawakhali-Thakurganj section. This project has created huge employment in nearby areas.

Also this line will help in more trains in the respective region, which will lead to the socio-economic development of the people of the region. This project will improve the economic situation of the surrounding areas by saving fuel and reducing transport costs as well as reducing travel time. The freight cost will also be affordable.

The passenger facilities include construction of a new 3 meter wide footbridge, waiting hall and new passenger platform shed at Pawakhali and Thakurganj stations and construction of 3 male and 2 female toilets at Pawakhali and 2 male and 2 female toilets in Thakurganj.

In addition, drinking water facilities are provided to passengers at the stations. The height of the platform for boarding and disembarking the trains was increased.
