The traditional military spectacle drew huge crowds to central London, as thousands of soldiers marched for the public and the royal family.

More than 1,400 officers and soldiers from the King’s personal troops were on display, alongside hundreds of musicians from the regimental bands.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the King was greeted with a 41-gun salute.

King Charles III, in his second “color trope” as king, tested the mass forces.

His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, rode a horse for Trooping the Color until 1987, when she retired to a carriage at the age of 61.

The English weather later turned for the worse, with a torrential downpour as the procession returned to Buckingham Palace.

Several of the royals who attended the festivities on horseback – including Prince William – were drenched.

After the procession, there will be a Royal Air Force parade, which the royal family will watch from the balcony.

The king invited only a select few senior working royals to stand by his side during the traditional balcony appearance in 2023.

It is expected that the smaller ensemble of royals will be present on the terrace this year.
