According to the meteorological department, the southwest monsoon will advance in some districts of Chhattisgarh today as well. An east-west trough lies over eastern Uttar Pradesh as the cyclone extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level through Bihar, sub-Himalayas, West Bengal and Assam to Nagaland. Due to this there is a possibility of light to moderate rain at some parts of the state.

The meteorological department on Friday recorded the highest temperature of 36.6 degrees in Baster district of Baster division. Even after the onset of monsoon in Bijapur, the district is hot. The temperature here is 35.8 degrees. Same is the situation of Narayanpur. Here too a temperature of 35.8 degrees was recorded, while in Dantewada the temperature is 33.9 degrees. All these districts have scorching heat.
