Nishikant Dubey had alleged that the TMC leader asked questions in Lok Sabha from Dubai businessman Darshan Hiranandani in return for cash and gifts to attack industrialist Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, Moitra has denied all the allegations.
Lokpal has asked for an inquiry report from CBI within six months. The CBI has been asked to file reports every month regarding the status of the investigation. Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha last year for alleged “immoral behaviour”. He has challenged his expulsion in the Supreme Court. The former Krishnanagar MP has been fielded by TMC from the same Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In his complaint, Dubey also alleged that Moitra had asked about 50 questions in Parliament related to the business interests of Hiranandani and his company. Moitra allegedly received Rs 75 lakh from the businessman ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Moitra had described Jai Ananth Dehadrai as her ex-boyfriend. These two people are also appearing in another court case. But the case against Mahua Moitra only heated up when he raised uncomfortable questions for the Modi government in Parliament about industrialist Gautam Adani. He made many allegations against Gautam Adani even outside Parliament. Gautam Adani and Hindenburg were the three most vocal people in Parliament regarding the investigation report. Apart from Mahua, there was Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Of these, Sanjay Singh is in jail. Mahua Moitra has lost her membership, and is now facing CBI raids. Rahul Gandhi also lost his parliamentary membership, but had to be reinstated as Lok Sabha Speaker after the Supreme Court order.
