On April 25, 2024, a 14-year-8-month-old girl was married to a 19-year-old youth at Surya Vatika located on Palda Road. Family members and relatives of the bride and groom attended the wedding. Everything went well so far. After the wedding the bride went to her in-law’s house. Her in laws do not allow her to go to her mother’s home. If someone from the mother’s house came to meet him, he was not even allowed to meet.
All this lasted for a month and a half. During this time, people from both families spoke on the phone. But the girl was not allowed to go to her parents’ home. The girl is from a poor family, while the boy belongs to a rich family. Ultimately the girl’s father decided to take action against the in-laws and lodge a complaint on the children’s helpline on Thursday, June 13.
Brought the girl to the police station, prepared a list of relatives
From there the complaint was passed on to the Women and Children Development Officer. On June 14, Regional Program Officer Ramniwas Budhoulia gave instructions to the regional supervisor to conduct an investigation into the case. Supervisors Neha Rajoria and Lalita Navaya took the girl from her in-laws’ house to the Azad Nagar police station. After this, the responsibility for further action was handed over to Mahendra Pathak of the Lado Abhiyan Core Group regarding the matter. Pathak along with his friend Shailesh Sharma immediately reached the spot. He questioned both parties and collected photos and videos as proof of the marriage. After this, a list of the people attending the wedding was prepared.
The girl’s parents refused to marry and put pressure on her.
A case has also been registered against the groom’s three brothers-in-law for participating in a child marriage. The sisters said that we were only refusing for our brother’s marriage. But the girl’s parents pressured her to get married. Trapped us all. Let us tell you that the little girl has been living with her husband in her in-laws house for about a month and a half. Now the girl’s medical will also be done in this case. Based on the medical report, the police can take action by increasing the department. If physical relationship is confirmed, POCSO Act will also be applied against the boy.
