Fasano (Italy): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Italy to attend the G7 Summit. Speaking earlier, Indian Ambassador to Italy Vani Rao said that India has been invited as a special country to the summit. Prime Minister Modi will play a key role in engaging with other world leaders present at the G7 Summit on issues of importance to India and the Global South.
A special place for India
Speaking to ANI, Ambassador Vani Rao said that Prime Minister Modi will also pursue some important issues during India’s G20 presidency. This is an important meeting. Firstly, it is an opportunity for the Prime Minister of the UK to play an important role in one of the global forums. This suggests continuity, said the ambassador, as he attended the G7 summit last year.
First international tour
PM Modi will visit Italy to attend the annual summit of G7 advanced economies. This will be his first international trip after starting his third consecutive term in the job. The G7 summit will take place between June 13 and 15 at the luxury resort of Borgo Egnazia in the Apulia region of Italy.
India’s leading role
India has played an important role in building global consensus on many controversial issues. So far India has hosted two sessions of the Voice of the Global South Summit. It aims to bring the interests, priorities and concerns of the Global South onto a global stage.
