New Delhi: Ajit Doval continues for the third term as National Security Advisor. PK Mishra will also continue as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ajit Doval has been reappointed as National Security Advisor and PK Mishra as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister from June 10, the government said today.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the reappointment of Amit Khare and Tarun Kapoor as Advisors to the Prime Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office for two years from June 10. He is appointed in the rank of Secretary.
Doval is Modi’s confidant
A former director of the Intelligence Bureau, Mr. Doval is one of Prime Minister Modi’s most trusted aides. He has been the National Security Advisor since 2014. A 1968 batch IPS officer belonging to the Kerala cadre, was the first policeman. Recipient of the Kirti Chakra, the second highest peacetime bravery award after the Ashoka Chakra.
As the man in charge of the national security establishment, which includes all the counter-terrorism and intelligence agencies, Doval is one of the most powerful officials in the country.
