Quebec has announced $2.4 million over four years to cover legal costs for people who file claims of psychological harassment or sexual violence in the workplace.

Labor Minister Jean Bevelt made the announcement today alongside Sophie Gagnon, head of the non-profit legal organization Juripop, which will receive the funding.

Bolt says the money will help the organization’s lawyers provide free legal services to about 300 people a year.

To be eligible for funding people will need to file a complaint with the county’s workplace safety board.

The funding envelope is related to the law passed in March that aims to prevent psychological harassment and sexual violence in the workplace.

A committee of three professors recommended the funding, saying the complainants did not have sufficient personal support to be properly represented in their claims before the Workplace Safety Board.
