This week, the situation in the garden strawberry market in Ukraine changed dramatically. This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project, writes agronews.ua.
If during the last two weeks the prices for this berry decreased, then in the current week Ukrainian producers managed to significantly raise the selling prices of their products.
According to the daily monitoring data of the project, the price of garden strawberries on Ukrainian farms increased by an average of 39% compared to the previous work week. Yes, today local gardeners ship this grain for 60-90 UAH/kg ($1.48-2.23/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the batch.
According to the producers themselves, there are several reasons for the increase in garden strawberry prices. First of all, the supply of this berry on the market is rapidly decreasing, as many horticultural farms end the season of selling early varieties. At the same time, the demand for strawberries, both in the fresh market and from the processing companies, is very high, which also leads to price growth in this segment.
It is worth noting that after the price increase, the selling prices of garden strawberries in Ukraine are already 30% higher on average than in the corresponding period last year.
