Wicked winds tore through southern Alberta on Tuesday night.

What appeared to be a gustnado – a tornado kicked up by gale-force winds – was spotted around 5:15 pm east of Innisfail along Highway 590.

Another apparent gustnado came up around 5:45 pm east of Ponoka on Highway 822.

Strong gusts also blew through Calgary, leaving a mess behind for many.

The strong winds caused a large tree to come down on a home in the north-west Highlands community.

It happened around 6 pm

No one was injured but it caused damage to the roof and cracked the mirror wall of the home inside.

One of the men who lives inside says older trees often break during storms but had never hit the home before Tuesday.

Strong gusts also blew through Calgary, leaving a mess behind for many.

A similar scene took place in Beddington Heights.

All unplanned power outages in Calgary experienced during the storm have since been repaired.
