The Calcutta High Court on Friday stayed the police inquiry against a Raj Bhavan official for allegedly wrongfully restraining a woman who had accused Governor CV Anand Bose of harassment. Justice Amrita Sinha ordered a temporary stay on the investigation till June 17. In response to the order, the governor congratulated the workers and called it a victory of ‘truth over evil’.
Bose wrote in X, the court earlier (rejecting the objections of the state police) granted bail to the Raj Bhavan officials and now the court has almost closed this difficult investigation. Although evil may appear to be victorious at first, truth will prevail in the end.
The court directed the police to submit a report on the investigation conducted so far in the case on June 10. The next hearing in the case will be held on June 10. Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Sandeep Kumar Singh moved the Supreme Court to quash the proceedings and the FIR registered against him.
