A picture of a steel spoon, engraved with an intricate design, has sparked an online discussion among netizens that soon turned into an attempt to solve the mystery behind this utensil that can be found in every Indian household.
An Indian man recently shared a picture of a steel spoon on social media asking his followers if they also own the same spoon, India Today reported.
“Anyone else?? Do you have the same spoon?” the user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another user responded to his post with a picture of the same spoon. This user promised to find out why this spoon is common among Indian households, which, according to him, “had to be an interesting story”.
The other user wrote: “I’m going to find out why everyone in India has this spoon.”
The post quickly caught the attention of social media users, some of whom stated what they knew about the history of the spoon.
One netizen claimed: “He probably created some grocery product. We have 3-4 of them now. Can’t remember what, but if I think of a common brand grocery item in the 90s, it could be is a brand of tea. I’ll check with my mother tomorrow if she remembers.”
“I will read a 1,000 word investigation on this. I can confirm that this is the spoon of choice among British Desis,” said another user.
