  • Among those arrested are four terrorists, the Kremlin said.
  • Daesh claims responsibility for an attack on the outskirts of Moscow.
  • The number of deaths following terrorism has killed 93 people.

At least 11 people, including four suspected gunmen, have been arrested by Russian authorities in connection with the shooting that killed nearly 100 people at a concert hall near Moscow.

So far, the terrorist attack – claimed by Daesh – has claimed at least 93 lives and injured 145 concertgoers at the Crocus City Hall, located on the outskirts of the Russian capital.

A statement issued by the Kremlin said on Saturday that President Vladimir Putin had been informed by the head of the FSB security service, Alexander Bortnikov, that the suspects, among those detained, included “four terrorists”.

He further mentioned that the service is working to identify their accomplices.

Russia’s Investigative Committee said the death toll rose to 93 from the attack when camouflaged gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons at concerts near the capital on Friday.

Russian lawmaker Alexander Khinshtein said the attackers fled in a Renault vehicle spotted by police in the Bryansk region, about 340 km (210 miles) southwest of Moscow on Friday night and disobeyed instructions to stop .

He said two were arrested after a car chase and two others fled into the woods. From the Kremlin’s account, it appeared that they too were later detained.

Khinshtein said a pistol, a magazine for an assault rifle, and passports from Tajikistan were found in the car. Tajikistan is a predominantly Muslim Central Asian state that was formerly part of the Soviet Union.

Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack, the deadliest in Russia since the Beslan school siege in 2004.

The shooting happened on Friday night at the Crocus City Hall, a concert venue just west of Moscow where a Soviet-era rock band was due to perform.

Verified video showed people taking their seats in the hall, then rushing for the exits as repeated gunshots echoed above screams. Another video showed men shooting at groups of people. Some victims lay motionless in pools of blood.

“Suddenly there were banks behind us – shots. Firing – I don’t know what,” said one witness, who asked not to be identified by name. Reuters.

“A stampede started. Everyone ran to the escalator,” said the witness. “Everyone was screaming; everyone was running.”
